Kitesurfing close to Ancora
Viana do Castello is one of Europe’s best kitesurfing spots, a 20-minute drive from the house. When it is sunny, there will be a thermal wind from the NW that typically ranges between 20 and 30 knots. Behind the seawall, you can find flat water, while a couple of hundred meters south, there are amazing waves that are relatively clean and can reach up to 2.5 meters. There are a couple of nice beach bars and an excellent kite rental shop (Kite Voodoo). It is also a good place to learn kite surfing or wing foiling. It is highly recommended!

Closer by is Moleda Beach (around a 10-minute drive), which has a slightly lower wind probability but is outstanding when it’s on. South of the Fort, the swell breaks, and here you can make turn after turn. There is a lovely beach bar to watch the action at Cafe Vapor.

The House
We have stayed at the house multiple times. The personal touch of the different rooms and the general atmosphere immediately make you feel at home. Lounging at the pool at the end of the day with a glass of local wine or hanging out on the living room couch gives you that vacation feeling. We did some fantastic hikes from the house, visited vineyards, and explored some of the medieval towns in the area. The beaches in the region are among the best in Europe for surfers and kite surfers. We will be back shortly!
